Welcome to the Mermaid Cottage!
This wonderful 3 bedroom, 3 bath beach cottage is located in the beautiful Cottage Retreat Community of Destin Florida. We invite you and your family to stay in our wonderful cottage for a week in paradise! If you like sugar-white sand, emerald waters and swaying palms, you will love this community.
The cottages in Cottage Retreat are quaint reminders of days gone by with front porches, and bright decorative colors, with the entire community built on a cul-de-sac.
Our cottage comes equipped with all of the comforts of home and possibly a few more! This home has 3 bedrooms, beautifully furnished and all the comforts of home. This home features a wrap-around deck on the first floor, and the second floor has a balcony for enjoying fresh evening breezes. The beach walkover is a short 2 minute stroll to the sugar white sand and emerald waters of the Gulf. Our home is in a perfect location. You will want to return year after year!
What to do in Destin besides enjoy our beaches!: Should you wish to explore what the local area has to offer, you'll find an abundance of choices. Sidewalks line scenic 98 for walking, running or bike riding. We are a short 2 mile drive to the Silver Sands mall to the West, or luxury shopping at Destin Commons to the East. Kenny D's, The Crab Trap, and Pompano Joe's are all within walking distance to Cayenne Cottage. We encourage you to leave menurs of your favorite restaurants when you come.
For evening entertainment, Destin is known for some wonderfully upscale eateries, as well as your regular fare. Friendly night life and nearby state of the art movie theater.
Do you like to shop?: The Silver Sands Outlet Mall is a vacation in it’s own right for shoppers you will have access to over 100 stores, including, Polo Ralph Lauren, Banana Republic, Brooks Brothers, Eddie Bauer, Liz Claiborne, Tommy Hilfiger, Lenox, Nike and Reebok - just to name a few. When you need to pause for nourishment choose from Panera Bread, Cheeseburger in Paradise or Carrabba's Italian Grill.
More great shopping can be found at the Destin Commons outdoor mall. Enjoy such great stores as Abercrombie & Fitch, Ann Taylor Loft, Banana Republic, Belk, Books-A-Million & Maui Nix Surf Shop to rattle off a few. Summary: Mermaid Cottage, is a beautiful house and had everything we needed to enjoy our stay. The home is located right across from the beach which made the walk over super easy. The pool is fantastic and was kept clean. The community is quiet/safe and dog friendly which we loved! We will definitely look to stay here again!

Summary: This house is very nice. It’s well decorated and has many thoughtful touches throughout. The kitchen is well equipped and everything is in good condition and very clean. We especially liked the color coordinated and soft towels and sheets instead of the usual hotel grade scratchy and worn towels we get at other places. The whole house is very clean, warm and inviting. It is a very short walk to the beach, with a convenient private entrance. The supplied beach cart and beach chairs made trips to the beach easy.

Summary: We loved our stay at the Mermaid Cottage! It was super clean, comfortable, and had everything we could need. We loved the decorator touches. The design really worked for our group, with a primary suite downstairs and another upstairs, along with a nicely appointed bunk room/bath. The beach was an easy walk, and there was a good walking area for our dogs. We’re planning our next years visit to the Mermaid!

Summary: We had 5 adults for a week long stay and it was fantastic. The house had most things we needed which was nice since we travelled in from out of state. The walk to the beach is very short and convenient and it was great that beach chairs and a wagon were provided. Our family would definitely stay again in the future!

Summary: Our family has been vacationing in Florida for many years and this year was another awesome trip in the books. We really enjoyed the beautiful Mermaid Cottage and were very comfortable during our stay. It was an easy walk to the pool or the beach and the home offered plenty of room for our family during meals together, sitting on the balcony, and resting in the living room while enjoying our time together. We definitely look forward to staying again and are thankful to the family for sharing their home with our family. The host was quick to respond and everything was exactly as described.
